The Veritas Classical Academy Lions won the last time they faced the Deweyville Pirates, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Veritas Classical Academy snuck past Deweyville with a 41-36 win.
Veritas Classical Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Merrill, who scored 19 points. The game was Merrill's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Strahan, who scored 12 points.
Veritas Classical Academy pushed their record up to 7-8 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.33 points across that stretch. As for Deweyville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Veritas Classical Academy will take on Liberty Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Deweyville, they will head out on the road to face off against Big Sandy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Big Sandy and four for Deweyville.
