For the first time this season, Bolles will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Providence School Stallions at 6:30 p.m. Bolles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Providence School will be up against a hot Bolles squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Bolles put the hurt on Menendez with a sharp 8-2 win on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly six runs.
Levi Pietschker tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jackson Geist was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Will Arndt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bolles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Providence School entered their tilt with John Carroll Catholic on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Rams. That's two games straight that the Stallions have won by exactly three runs.
The team relied heavily on Grant Sheppard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gavin Duva, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Providence School's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bolles, their record now sits at 7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bolles has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Providence School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bolles beat Providence School 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bolles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
