The Lopez Lobos are taking a road trip to challenge the Donna Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with 15 losses in a row, Lopez turned things around against Mercedes on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lobos have posted since February 17th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Donna). They put the hurt on Edcouch-Elsa with a sharp 16-6 win on Friday. With that victory, the Redskins brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Joaquin Gutierrez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gutierrez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Donna: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ethan Sanchez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Donna's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Domingo Sierra was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Donna kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Lopez's record now sits at 2-20-1. As for Donna, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Everything went Lopez's way against Donna in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Lopez made off with an 11-2 win. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
