The matchup between the Osceola Warriors and the Tarpon Springs Spongers on Friday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. Osceola rang in the new year with a 65-52 victory over Tarpon Springs. Winning may never get old, but Osceola sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Osceola was led to victory by Eleven Williams and Talon Brooks. Williams scored 19 points along with seven rebounds, while Brooks scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hundt, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Tarpon Springs still got an impressive performance from Geramyah Porter, who scored 19 points along with five assists and four steals. Porter is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerby Liberal, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Osceola's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Tarpon Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Osceola and Boca Ciega will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Boca Ciega is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Tarpon Springs, Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor University will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Palm Harbor University is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
