The Santa Fe Wildcats put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Perry County at home to the tune of 80-50. The result was nothing new for Santa Fe, who have now won three contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
Auden Slaughter was his usual excellent self, scoring 41 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Santa Fe's points. Another player making a difference was Macon Adkison, who scored 21 points.
Perry County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Colton Pevahouse, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds, and Kenner Haston who scored 13 points. The game was Pevahouse's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Landon Warren was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Even though they lost, Perry County were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Fe only posted two assists.
Santa Fe pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Perry County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Santa Fe will take on McEwen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Perry County will be home for the holidays to greet Summertown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Summertown's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matches.
