The Minneola Wildcats won the last time they faced the Satanta Indians, and things went their way on Monday too. Minneola came out on top against the Indians by a score of 43-31.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Minneola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maiya Shelor, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Braegen Shelor was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yahaira Puerto, who scored 17 points. That was a full 54.8% of Satanta's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Wood, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Minneola's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Satanta, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minneola will face off against the Blue Jays at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. Ashland is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Wildcats a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. As for Satanta, they will head out on the road to challenge the Mavericks at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Kiowa County aren't just struggling at home either: they haven't won a game anywhere since January 12th.
