Sotomayor is on a five-game streak of home wins, while O'Connor is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The WILDCATS will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Sotomayor came up short against Harlan and fell 7-4. The WILDCATS have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask O'Connor). They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over Warren on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Faith Mayfield made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isabella Sierra was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Briscoe, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
O'Connor hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 29 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Sotomayor, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1.
Sotomayor came up short against O'Connor in their previous meeting back in February, falling 5-0. Will the WILDCATS have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
