The Framingham Flyers will face off against the Milford Scarlet Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Framingham will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Framingham had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Brookline on Wednesday. The Flyers were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over the Warriors. The Flyers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kayla Goodridge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Goodridge was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Tessa Krejdovsky was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Kiklis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Framingham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .763. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Milford's offense. They came up short against King Philip Regional on Wednesday, falling 12-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Scarlet Hawks were not able to get on the board.
Milford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Kearnan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Kearnan's first of the season.
Framingham's record is now 2-4. As for Milford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Framingham hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .438. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Framingham came out on top in a nail-biter against Milford in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Flyers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scarlet Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
