It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the University Christian Christians ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 37-32 win over Ridgeview. The win was familiar territory for University Christian who now have three in a row.
Curmani Rogers was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Londyn Tatum was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the loss, Ridgeview still got an impressive performance from Nacoya Blocton, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The game was Blocton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Narissa Blocton, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Ridgeview were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University Christian only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
University Christian pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Ridgeview, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University Christian will challenge Orange Park at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeview will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Baker County at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
