Bunn is a perfect 7-0 against Northern Nash since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bunn Wildcats will head out to square off against the Northern Nash Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northern Nash will be up against a hot Bunn team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Bunn put the hurt on Rocky Mount with a sharp 23-4 victory on Tuesday.
Emily Baez looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Bunn let Payton Wood and Maycey Buchanan run wild. Wood went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Buchanan went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Wood has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madeline Bryson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Bunn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Northern Nash hadn't done well against Beddingfield recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Northern Nash never let Beddingfield get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 19, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Emily Clay was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Emma Hunt and Kailey Burden did most of the damage at the plate: Hunt scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Burden scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Hunt continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Hayley Moss was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5.
Northern Nash's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Bunn, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bunn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .555. However, it's not like Northern Nash struggles in that department as they've averaged .609. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
