Kimberly is 3-0 against Brookfield Central since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Kimberly Papermakers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Brookfield Central Lancers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kimberly has five straight victories, Brookfield Central has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Kimberly didn't have too much trouble with Appleton North on the road as they won 60-45. Given Kimberly's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Appleton North is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Katelyn McGinnis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. Raegan Krueger was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brookfield Central pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-58 to Germantown. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brookfield Central in their matchups with Germantown: they've now lost five in a row.
Kimberly pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Brookfield Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Kimberly was able to grind out a solid win over Brookfield Central when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 67-60. Does Kimberly have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brookfield Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
