Baseball Game Preview: Glenn Bobcats vs. R.J. Reynolds Demons

Glenn and R.J. Reynolds are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Glenn will venture away from home to challenge R.J. Reynolds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Glenn wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Logan Stump was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Stump wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dalin Becher, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Isaiah Turley also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, R.J. Reynolds was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 13-1 to West Forsyth.

Glenn has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. R.J. Reynolds now has a losing record of 4-5.

Everything went Glenn's way against R.J. Reynolds when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Glenn made off with a 9-2 win. Does Glenn have another victory up their sleeve, or will R.J. Reynolds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
