Basketball Recap: Stephens Piles Up the Points Against Cornerstone Christian

Stephens won against Garrett Memorial Christian two weeks ago with 78 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Stephens Roadrunners claimed a resounding 78-39 win over the Cornerstone Christian Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Roadrunners.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stephens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kason Powell, who went 11 for 14 on his way to 23 points. The matchup was Powell's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Cash Powell was another key player, going 10 for 17 on his way to 22 points.

Stephens is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Stephens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-61 victory against New Life Christian Academy on the 6th. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Stephens at 7:00 p.m. on January 16, 2025.
