Burlington is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Santa Fe Trail is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Burlington was able to grind out a solid win over Mission Valley, taking the game 9-4. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Grace Birk was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Thomsen and Camden Swank did most of the damage at the plate: Thomsen went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Swank went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carlee Cole, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe Trail earned a 12-9 win over Ottawa on Thursday.
Peyton Ganger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Fawl, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Santa Fe Trail lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Santa Fe Trail's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Burlington, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like Santa Fe Trail struggles in that department as they've averaged .394. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
