Irwin County is 8-2 against Charlton County since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Irwin County Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Charlton County Indians at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Friday, Irwin County ended up a good deal behind Turner County and lost 62-48. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Titans are ranked 233rd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sam Guy, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 13 rebounds, and ten blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Terrio Wilcox, who went 6 for 8 en route to 13 points and six boards.
Even though they lost, Irwin County was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Charlton County came up short against Atkinson County on Tuesday and fell 42-29. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Irwin County, Charlton County lost despite seeing results from several players. Rowen Lane led the charge by putting up ten points. Christian Brown was another key player, earning seven points.
Irwin County's record is now 5-10. As for Charlton County, their record is now 3-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Irwin County has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 28.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Charlton County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Irwin County was dealt a bruising 58-23 defeat at the hands of Charlton County in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Irwin County was down 37-15.
