Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by New Albany on the road and fell 43-14. Northeast Lauderdale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.
New Albany got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ke?lan Simpson out in front who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Simpson is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Braden Shettles also helped out by tossing the rock for 253 yards.
Northeast Lauderdale's loss was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 West Lauderdale and 7-3 Forest (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.7% over those games). As for New Albany, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Northeast Lauderdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. New Albany will square off against Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Louisville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
