The Hanover Wildcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Diller-Odell by a score of 50-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hanover also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Diller-Odell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Myleigh Weers. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with six steals and three blocks. The game was Weers' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Baileigh Vilda was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Hanover pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Diller-Odell, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Hanover and Linn will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Linn's defense has only allowed 20.4 points per game this season, so Hanover's offense will have their work cut out for Hanover. Diller-Odell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sacred Heart on January 5, 2024.
