After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clinton, The Midway Raiders were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 26-12 win over Red Springs. That's another feather in the cap for Midway, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Cody Ammons was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown. Tripp Westbrook was another key contributor, throwing for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Taquan (TJ) Ellerbe and Jakelsin Mack, Red Springs certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Ellerbe rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, while Mack rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Midway's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Red Springs, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midway will take on St. Pauls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Red Springs, they will be playing at home against West Bladen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (West Bladen is ranked 342nd, while Red Springs is ranked 317th).
