The Mount Vernon Mustangs will be playing at home against the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mount Vernon beat St. Francis 72-68.
Kj Garris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Pace Bottoms, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Mt. Bethel Christian Academy can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Mount Pisgah Christian 77-57. The victory was nothing new for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy as they're now sitting on four straight.
Mount Vernon pushed their record up to 14-9 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Mount Vernon strolled past Mt. Bethel Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 61-46. Does Mount Vernon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Bethel Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
