The Navarre Raiders waltzed into their contest Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Pensacola Catholic, posting a 81-54 win on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Navarre, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Navarre was led to victory by Darius Cunningham and Jonah Forrest. Cunningham scored 17 points along with nine steals, while Forrest went 9 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 2 assists. The match was Cunningham's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trey Brauns, who scored ten points along with six assists.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Solomon Sutton, who scored 16 points along with three blocks. Sutton has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terius Mason, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Navarre has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Pensacola Catholic, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Navarre and Gulf Breeze will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gulf Breeze presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Navarre in Florida (Gulf Breeze is ranked 201st, while Navarre is ranked 434th). As for Pensacola Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pensacola Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m.
