La Quinta and Xavier Prep are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The La Quinta Blackhawks will head out on the road to take on the Xavier Prep Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for La Quinta and four for Xavier Prep.

Xavier Prep suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 84-42 loss at the hands of Palm Springs. While losing is never fun, Xavier Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1105th, while Palm Springs is ranked 109th).
Xavier Prep's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Johnny Ferrel, who scored 12 points, and Paul Dreisbach who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 35.7% of Xavier Prep's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
La Quinta has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Xavier Prep, they bumped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
La Quinta came up short against Xavier Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 70-62. Thankfully for La Quinta, Matt Farias (who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
