The Munroe Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Crossroad Academy Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Crossroad Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Munroe, who comes in off a win.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Munroe ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 68-60 victory over Madison County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Munroe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leith Kenon, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kenon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Karlton Knight, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Crossroad Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Marianna, falling 70-35. While losing is never fun, Crossroad Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Marianna is ranked 74th).
Despite the defeat, Crossroad Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jabari Boahen dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Boahen is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Myron Tennell, who scored nine points.
Munroe pushed their record up to 13-6 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Crossroad Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Munroe didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Crossroad Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 75-69 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Crossroad Academy's Ja'Mari Favors, who scored 24 points along with three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Munroe still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
