Basketball Recap: Borden Takes Down Northeast Dubois in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Borden walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Northeast Dubois Jeeps on Saturday as they made off with a 65-41 win. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Borden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Wheeler, who shot 60% from the field en route to 15 points along with five assists and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Riley Rarick, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten assists.

Wheeler wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Borden was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Dubois only four assists.

Despite the loss, Northeast Dubois still got an impressive performance from Bella Cummins, who posted 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyllee Schnell, who earned five points and ten rebounds.

Borden has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. With the loss, Northeast Dubois broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-7.

Borden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-40 victory against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 1st. Northeast Dubois does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
