On Saturday, Rockwell came up short against Wayne and fell 49-40. Rockwell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wayne found their leader in underclassman AJ Vandyke, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was Vandyke's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Raegyn Blackburn was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Rockwell's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Wayne, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Rockwell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Maeser Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Wayne is on the road again on Saturday and play against Merit Preparatory Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Merit Preparatory Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Wayne is ranked 47th).
