The Hanford West Huskies will square off against the Edison Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanford West is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Last Friday, Hanford West earned a 7-3 victory over Sierra Pacific.
Rylan Montoya tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Karmen Vazquez was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Adyson Owens, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Hanford West lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Edison had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Righetti by a score of 4-1 on Friday.
Alexis Verduzco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rubi Perez and Lauren Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Perez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Jones went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Jones has posted since back in April.
Hanford West's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Edison, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11.
Edison's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hanford West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. It's a different story for Edison, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Hanford West's hitters?
Hanford West beat Edison 12-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2017. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
