The Cross Trojans's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 57-49 win over Burke. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Cross considering their 11-point performance the matchup before.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Middleton, who scored 20 points along with six assists and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Zhnia Fredricks, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
Cross pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Burke, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cross will take on Baptist Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Baptist Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Cross is ranked 81st). As for Burke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowcountry Leadership at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lowcountry Leadership comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
