Aquinas Institute hit Honeoye Falls-Lima with a eight-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars came up short against the Little Irish, falling 9-3. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Little Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Honeoye Falls-Lima got a good showing from Nate Meacham, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meacham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Jacob Weber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Farabell, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Wayne hadn't done well against Palmyra-Macedon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Red Raiders 10-9. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Aidan Twist made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Wayne's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kahlen Clark, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Grasso, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Honeoye Falls-Lima, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Honeoye Falls-Lima was able to grind out a solid win over Wayne in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
