The Roswell Hornets extended their postseason success on Friday against the Lanier Longhorns. They blew past the Longhorns, posting a 59-27 victory at home. Roswell might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten games by 27 points or more this season.
Roswell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nykahi Davenport led the charge by rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Davenport has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played. Kenneth "kj" smith was another key contributor, throwing for 250 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes.
The win (which was Roswell's eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Lanier, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Roswell's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Marist at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Marist will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. Lanier does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
