4A Region 1 recap November 19, 2013
Prairie Grove was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Robinson. The Tigers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Prairie Grove extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week by beating the Senators, 49-15. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Gravette's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bryce Moorman threw for 12 and 1 touchdown and Cody Heaton had 34 yards receiving. On the ground Cedric Duarte chipped in 35 yards. Shay Shimer helped Gravette's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 36 yards.
The Lions' dynamic duo of Moorman and Heaton proved tough for Valley View to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Shimer helped Gravette's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 36 yards.
Wyatt Banta was a passing and rushing force as Gravette fell to the Blazers. He completed 12 passes for 109 yards and also ran for 2 yards. Banta's favorite target this week was Heaton, who caught 3 passes for 34 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Gentry's Jarod Cousins and Stone Faulkenberry have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Cousins has thrown for 1,328 yards this season, while Faulkenberry has 29 catches for 529 yards. Duarte from Bill Harrelson's team leads the league in rushing with 1,276 yards.
Lincoln made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,978 from 3,051. The advance stemmed from a 27-14 victory over Nashville last week.
