Roy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Alta Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Roy can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bonneville 40-0 at home. Roy pushed the score to 33-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Bonneville had no chance of recovering from.
Roy had a senior duo take command as Daeqwan Snider gained 106 total yards and two touchdowns and Joseph Cariaga iii rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Alta faced West in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Alta came out on top in a nail-biter against West on Friday and snuck past 36-34. Winning may never get old, but Alta sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Alta found their leader in underclassman Kepa Niumeitolu, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 201 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Matt Mckea, who gained 104 total yards and a touchdown.
Roy's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points per game. As for Alta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Roy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Alta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Roy was taken down by Alta 52-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2017. Can Roy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
