The Natalia Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Hondo Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Natalia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Natalia took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over Dilley. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Arabella Gallegos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Gallegos was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Selyene Gallegos, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kira Jimenez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Natalia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Hondo and Lytle have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. Hondo came up short against Lytle, falling 13-3.
Hondo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kristyn Ybarra, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Natalia's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hondo, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Natalia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hondo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
