Basketball Recap: Indian Rocks Christian Drops Season-High Score on Bayshore Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Indian Rocks Christian). They blew past the Bayshore Christian Faith Warriors 81-45 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Faith Warriors are ranked 711th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Will Murphree, who dropped a triple-double on 32 points, 11 boards, and ten assists. The match was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin McDonnell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Murphree wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Indian Rocks Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Bayshore Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tylan Lewis posted 26 points and three steals. That was a full 57.8% of Bayshore Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Casey Martin, who put up four points in addition to ten boards and four blocks.

The victory was the third in a row for Indian Rocks Christian, bringing their record for this year to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Bayshore Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Indian Rocks Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-58 win against Osceola on the 13th. Bayshore Christian has also already played their next matchup, an 82-51 loss against Brandon Academy on the 13th.
