Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Desert View walked away with it. They took down the Mountain Pointe Pride 37-21 on Friday. The Jaguars' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Desert View found their leader in sophomore Jaylee Abraham, who rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 129 receiving yards and one TD. Abraham's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards. Ryan Vasavilbaso was another key player, having thrown for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Desert View's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Marco Morando with two. Greg Mckinstry was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles.
Desert View's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Mountain Pointe, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Coming up, Desert View will take on Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert View will need to watch out since Canyon View has now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups. Mountain Pointe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
