Baseball Recap: Buckingham Charter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Encina

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buckingham Charter). They put the hurt on the Encina Bulldogs with a sharp 40-1 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Jordan Guttman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Richard Ackman looked comfortable as he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Julian Gonzalez and Jake Loos did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI, while Loos got on base in five of his eight plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those four runs gave Loos a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Wright, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Buckingham Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Buckingham Charter's record now sits at 3-5. As for Encina, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Buckingham Charter will host Delta at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Encina, they will head out to square off against Sacramento Country Day at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
