Even though the Severance Silver Knights have not done well against the Frederick Golden Eagles recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Severance walked away with a 53-41 victory over Frederick. The win was familiar territory for Severance who now have four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Severance to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Hoffman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brady Varney, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Frederick lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being JJ Strojinc, who scored 12 points. Ian Buffington was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Severance has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Frederick, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Severance will take on Riverdale Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Riverdale Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Frederick, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
