Warsaw hasn't had much luck against East Noble recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Warsaw took a loss when they played away from home back in March, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in March. They put the hurt on Jimtown with a sharp 13-6 victory.
Addison Eastwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mia Rodriguez, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellyse Walters, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Warsaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jimtown only posted a batting average of .343.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times East Noble and Central Noble had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Knights walked away with a 6-3 win over the Cougars on Monday. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Cougars on their field since April 10, 2017.
East Noble also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Abby Alwine gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Alwine has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Aubrey Helmkamp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs.
The victory got Warsaw back to even at 1-1. As for East Noble, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Warsaw suffered a grim 23-6 defeat to East Noble when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
