Cannon is 9-1 against Covenant Day since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cannon Cougars duke it out with the Covenant Day Lions at 7:00 p.m. Cannon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully Covenant Day likes a good challenge.
Cannon will head into Wednesday's match on the come-up: they were handed a 31-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past Charlotte Latin 67-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since December 21, 2023.

Cannon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Nix, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Nix's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Ingram, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Covenant Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Charlotte Latin by a score of 47-37 on Tuesday.
Covenant Day's win came from a few key players Cannon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landon Haggarty, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Tyree White was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.
Cannon is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 92.2 points per game. As for Covenant Day, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cannon has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Covenant Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cannon might still be hurting after the 78-52 defeat they got from Covenant Day in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Cannon, Michael Marcus Jr. (who went 10 for 15 on his way to 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
