Newsome (Lithia, Fla.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Bloomingdale (Valrico, Fla.), 41-7, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Clint Carnell to
Matt Hines in the first quarter, the Wolves led 27-0 at the half.
Newsome expanded its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Carnell.
Logan Crouse made a difference for the Bulls. The sophomore tight end caught one touchdown.
Carnell stood out for the Lithia school in the win. The senior running back threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
Bloomingdale's lone touchdown came on a 36-yard pass from Malik Williams to Crouse in the fourth quarter.
The Wolves entered the contest giving up 24.9 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding BHS well below its season average of 18.2 points scored per game.
NHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 55-16.
With the win the Wolves extended their winning streak to three games.
