On Tuesday, the Timberline Wolves faced the Boise Brave in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Timberline was beaten by the Brave 59-32. Timberline has not had much luck with the Brave recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Mertes, who scored 15 points. Emmi Swillie was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Timberline struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Avery Howell, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds for Boise. That makes it four consecutive games in which Howell has scored at least a third of Boise's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alison Turcke, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Timberline's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Boise, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.
Timberline will be playing at home against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Idaho (Borah is ranked 34th, while the Wolves are ranked 24th). Boise does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
