The Colorado Academy Mustangs stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They put the hurt on Peak to Peak with a sharp 48-28 victory. The victory was nothing new for Colorado Academy as they're now sitting on five straight.
Colorado Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Johnson, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Skylar May, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Alexandra Eschmeyer and Charley Miller certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Eschmeyer dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Miller scored 14 points. That was a full 42.9% of Peak to Peak's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Colorado Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Peak to Peak, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Colorado Academy will head out on the road to square off against Jefferson Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson Academy's defense has only allowed 27.3 points per game this season, so Colorado Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Peak to Peak, they will be playing at home against Eagle Ridge Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Eagle Ridge Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
