A feisty cat fight will be fought as Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars challenge Grace Christian Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with 11 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Middle Tennessee Christian turned things around against LaVergne on Friday. They never let the Wolverines get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Cougars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12, 2024.
Middle Tennessee Christian let Riley Osborne and Mollie Wood run wild. Osborne went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while Wood got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Wood a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Embry, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Grace Christian Academy never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against The Webb School on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Feet as they made off with a 15-0 win. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Audrey George made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Rachel Shipman was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Shipman, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.
Grace Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Grace Christian Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
