LOUISVILLE, KY. –
Brooklyn Gordon of
Irwin County (Ocilla, GA) captured the latest MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Fall Player of the Week award, the Association announced on Monday. She is being recognized for her outstanding play for the week of Sept. 1-7.
Gordon fanned 17 batters over 12 innings in the circle to help deliver two victories for the (9-2) Indians, who have now won seven straight games.
The sophomore right-hander struck out seven and allowed just two hits over five innings in last Tuesday's 11-3 victory over Valdosta, then amassed 10 strikeouts and limited Charlton County to four hits over seven innings two days later.
Gordon also helped herself at the plate in the two contests, going 2-for-5 (.400) with four runs scored and an RBI.
MaxPreps.com, the official high school statistical provider of the NFCA, provides all statistics for the NFCA High School Player of the Week award. To nominate a player a coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week is announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the fall season.
