They walked away with a 58-50 win over Fort Wayne Canterbury. Given Fort Wayne North Side's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Fort Wayne Canterbury is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Wayne North Side's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Fugate, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Javion Davenport, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.
Despite the loss, Fort Wayne Canterbury still got an impressive performance from Tucker Day, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Devon Lewis, who scored 13 points.
Fort Wayne North Side's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Fort Wayne Canterbury, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne North Side will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Homestead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Wayne Canterbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Huntington North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
