The Annapolis Christian Academy Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 35-23 to Humble Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Annapolis Christian Academy of the 27-20 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Annapolis Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Genesis Lopez, who scored eight points along with seven steals. Shaitali Olvera was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six steals.
Humble Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelly Paulk led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Paulk is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly McMullen, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Annapolis Christian Academy's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-14. As for Humble Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Annapolis Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against School of the Woods at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully School of the Woods focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Friday. As for Humble Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Family Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
