Baseball Recap: Coosa Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Jefferson Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coosa Christian). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jefferson Christian Academy Eagles a 23-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that win, the Conquerors brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Jd Justus made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Coosa Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Brody Nelson looked comfortable as he scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 4-for-4. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Coosa Christian got a massive performance out of Dylan Edwards, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits Edwards has posted since back in February of 2024. Blaine West also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coosa Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .811. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Coosa Christian's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Jefferson Christian Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Coosa Christian will square off against Scottsboro at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Jefferson Christian Academy, they will challenge Victory Christian at 7:00 p.m. on March 11th.
