The Kinston Vikings had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over North Lenoir. The victory was just what Kinston needed coming off of a 62-18 defeat in their prior match.
Qurron Ross was a one-man wrecking crew for Kinston as he threw for 362 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 74.3% of his passes. Ross hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Antwain Jones also helped out with an impressive 115 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why North Lenoir lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Malik Fuller. Despite the final result, he rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Fuller was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Pippen, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Kinston's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for North Lenoir, their defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8.
Kinston will head out on the road to face off against Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. North Lenoir does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
