The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Paulding in their matchups with Douglas County: they've now lost three in a row.
East Paulding's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janaya White, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aasiyah Mozelle, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Leading Douglas County to victory were Reagan Freeman and Alyssa Gunn. Freeman dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Gunn scored 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gunn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Charla Young, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds.
East Paulding has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Douglas County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
East Paulding will be playing at home against New Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Manchester presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Paulding in Georgia (New Manchester is ranked 41st, while East Paulding is ranked 381st). As for Douglas County, they will head out on the road to face off against South Paulding at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
