The Evergreen Cougars will face off against the Pomona Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Evergreen has eight straight wins, Pomona has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Evergreen needed a bit of extra time to put away Littleton. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Lions.
Brecken Worthington made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Keller Fiore was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Mauro, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Pomona fell victim to Golden and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 13-0 to the Demons. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Truett Neiman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Pomona is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Pomona saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Douglas, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Evergreen, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Evergreen suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Pomona when the teams last played on April 4th. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
