Basketball Recap: Serra Catholic Piles Up the Points Against St. Joseph

Serra Catholic came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 75-30 victory over the St. Joseph Spartans. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

Owen Dumbroski was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Brayden Graham was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Serra Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Serra Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for St. Joseph, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Serra Catholic and St. Joseph could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Serra Catholic (ranked 140th) will meet Neighborhood Academy (ranked 42nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, St. Joseph will take on Monessen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 297 places (581 vs. 284).
