They took their contest on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 61-34 win over Fayetteville. That's another feather in the cap for Smithville, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sydnie Brenner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with six steals and five assists. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for she. The team also got some help courtesy of Arabella Gutierrez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Fayetteville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Peyton Jurecka. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fayetteville were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory got Smithville back to even at 5-5. As for Fayetteville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Smithville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Caldwell at 6:15 p.m. on December 12th. Caldwell has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. As for Fayetteville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckholts at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
